The scared young canine-like creature curled up on the patio of its old guardian's back lawn. It was dark out, very dark. The back yard was enclosed by a very tall fence, and the sky was mostly blocked out by the leaves and branches of the two nearby trees that took up most of the small yard. Chapter 1 A small, speedy spacecraft darted through the milky black, star-speckled void of space, a tiny dot slicing through the great distances between worlds like a searing bullet. It left behind it long bands of rippled space and a tail of light, like a comet. It was quite possibly the fastest craft in all of the triple galaxy.
